Makam Umar Mas’ud

Deskripsi:
Syech Maulana Umar Mas’ud merupakan tokoh Ulama Penyebar Islam di pulau Bawean. Maulana Umar Mas’ud (nama asalnya adalah Pangeran Perigi) yang mengunjungi pulau Bawean dan wafat disana. Beliau adalah cucu Sunan Drajat (Sayyid Zainal ‘Alim), yaitu anak kedua dari Susuhunan Mojoagung (putera Sayyid Zainal ‘Alim yang tertua). Maulana Umar Mas’ud datang ke pulau Bawean sekembalinya dari pulau Madura. Beliau datang ke Madura bersama saudaranya bernama Pangeran Sekara. Namun Pangeran Sekara menetap di Madura dan berkeluarga disana (di Arosbaya). Sedangkan Pangeran Perigi meneruskan perjalanan menuju utara hingga mendarat di pulau Bawean. Ia mendarat disebuah dusun yang sekarang bernama Komalasa.

Setibanya di Bawean, Maulana Umar Mas’ud tidak langsung mengajarkan dan menyiarkan agama Islam. Beliau melakukan pendekatan dengan penduduk. Karena keramahan beliau, banyak penduduk yang bersimpati. Bahkan, mereka mempercayai Maulana Umar Mas’ud.

Maulana Umar Mas’ud memerintah dari tahun 1601M hingga 1630 M setelah terlebih dahulu menaklukkan Raja Babileono, di daerah Sungai Raja-Bawean. Raja Babileono menantang Syekh Umar Ma’ud untuk adu kesaktian karena dianggap musuh kerajaan setelah dia tahu bahwa Syekh Umar Mas’ud berusaha mempengaruhi penduduk Bawean untuk masuk Islam dan meninggalkan kepercayaan animismenya yang sudah lama mereka anut. Setelah beliau mengalahkan Raja Babileono, beliau akhirnya menggantikan posisi menjadi raja di kerajaan Bawean. Selain memerintah sebagai raja, beliau bertindak sebagai mubaligh yang mengajarkan dan menyiarkan ajaran agama Islam. Saat bertindak sebagai raja, Maulana Umar Mas’ud memindahkan pusat pemerintahan yang berada di dusun Sungairaja desa Lebak ke pusat Sangkapura. Beliau wafat pada tahun 1630 M dan dimakamkan di belakang masjid jami’ Sangkapura.

Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud was an Ulama or Islamic preacher in Bawean Island. Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud; his nick name was Pangeran Perigi, was a visitor in Bawean who lived and died there. Based on several historical references, Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud or Pangeran Perigi is Susuhunan Mojoagung’s 2nd son, and he is Sunan Drajat or Sayyid Zainal ‘Alim’s grandson.

Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud went and arrived at Bawean after his visiting to Madura. He came to Madura with his brother, Prince Sekara. Prince Sekara decided to get married with Madura princess and lived there, while Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud decided to continue his journey to South and arrived at Bawean. Precisely at Komalasa village, now it is part of Tambak Sub-district Bawean, Gresik. Arriving at Bawean, Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud didn’t directly rolled as Islamic preacher and teach Islam to the people of Bawean. He firstly socialized and did some approaches to the people. Because of his humble and friendly character, the people of Bawean were very welcome and accepted him as a part of Bawean people.

Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud inaugurated and commanded Bawean from 1601 M to 1630 M, after defeating the previous king, Baileono, who was magically powerful. He challenged Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud to fight after he had known that Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud was trying to influence Bawean people to have Islam as their faith and leaved their old animism faith. After defeating King Babileono, Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud commanded Bawean and moved the capital of Bawean from Sungairaja, Lebak to Sangkapura. He rolled not only as king but also as Islamic preacher and succeeded to widely spread Islam to the whole of Bawean. Sheikh Maulana Umar Mas’ud died and finally buried at Bawean, precisely behind the Mosque of Sangkapura Bawean.
